This is Assistant Principal Kouba with an important update for the week.

 

🔴 **NWEA Winter Assessment**

This week, students will complete the **winter administration of the NWEA assessment**.

 

* **Reading:** Tuesday, February 10

* **Math:** Friday, February 13

 

To support testing, please ensure students **bring their school-issued devices to school** so they can be **accounted for, charged, and ready for testing**. Thank you for your support in helping our students be prepared.

 

🔴 **WGMS Spirit Night – Thursday**

Join us on **Thursday, February 12**, for **WGMS Spirit Night at Main Event** from **5:00 to 8:00 p.m.**

If you attend, please be sure to **mention that you are supporting Western Guilford Middle School**, as proceeds will come back to support our school.

 

🔴 **PTA Quarter 3 Valentine’s Dance**

Tiger Nation, join us on **Friday, February 13, 2026**, from **6:00 to 8:00 p.m.** for our **PTA-sponsored Valentine’s Dance**.

 

* **Cost:** $5 in advance or $7 at the door (**cash only**)

* **Ticket sales:** Begin **Monday, February 9** during morning arrival

 

**Reminder:**

Students who receive **ISS or OSS between January 20 and February 13** may still attend the dance **only if accompanied by an adult chaperone (18 years or older)**.

 

🔴 **Athletics Update**

An important announcement from our athletic department:

Tryouts for **girls’ and boys’ track, baseball, and softball** will be held **Monday, March 2 through Wednesday, March 4**, from **3:30 to 5:30 p.m.** at WGMS.

 

All required athletic participation packets must be **turned in in person** to **Coach Sexton or Coach Phillips** by **Thursday, February 26, at 3:30 p.m.**

Please note that there will be **no exceptions** to this deadline.
